How to navigate past you?
Left with remnants of the hostile tempest
A void that claimed your seat
Gray, cold mist that mourns your leave
My eyes are still tearfully looking back
Reminiscent of what was
Beneath your refuge, wrapped by
prismatic, warm mid-equator sunsets
Propelled into this interlude
through abrupt, uncharted waters
naively, I whispered promises of hope
when melancholic clouds were here
«We’ll navigate past this»
My assuring words I made myself believe
I wanted to erase the fear in your gaze
for you to only witness sunshine and clear skies
The announcement that the worst is here
You did not deserve that pain and fear
arduous paddling through the tempest
Mine to bear, and your time to ease
Off I drift, inescapable, unquestionable
force that carries me past the wreckage
Slow, uncertain, but steady rowing
Past the unyielding frigid storms
In the thickness of this fog
my gaze sifts for a lingering gleam
Persistent, beacon set on a hill
My guide, my direction, my peace.
